Karen Bateh

Vice-President, People & Culture

Karen became Vice-President, People & Culture at CBC/Radio-Canada on July 2, 2025. In this role, she is responsible for developing and putting into action the people and culture strategy. In addition to leading the teams that deliver our full range of HR programs and services, Karen Bateh focuses on fostering a safe, healthy, positive and productive work environment across the country. 

Over the course of a 20-year career, Karen has built a reputation as a business-centric HR leader who brings strategic vision, deep expertise, and a strong results orientation to complex organizations. She has held senior executive roles across both the public and private sectors, including previously serving as Chief Human Resources Officer at FINTRAC and, most recently a Partner in People Consulting at Ernst & Young, advising public sector clients on complex HR strategies and transformation initiatives.

Karen’s approach is rooted in organizational psychology and driven by a commitment to human-centric leadership, innovation, and partnership. She brings a collaborative, data-informed lens to change and is passionate about building thriving, modern workplaces.

Having lived across the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, Karen brings a distinctly global and inclusive perspective. She is fluent in English, French, and Spanish, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University, specializing in Psychology and Organizational Effectiveness.
